I just wanted to say what a great account you’ve shared in the Connected Artists Fb group. My experience here has been similar. But 3 times Fb has removed my comment as spam 😡 so sadly I can’t take part in the conversation there. Thanks for writing your post, and for listing me.
FB hasnt let ANYONE except Alice and Helen Conway (who is a moderator) make a comment on that post!!! It all just confirms my opinion that the less I have to do with Meta, the better
I am sure other CAC members will enjoy your substack as much as I do
Thanks Helen. Interesting, I thought maybe it was links and tags that were causing the problem but perhaps we’re not supposed to talk about Substack! If it wasn’t for our group there, I would have left Fb behind by now.
I love that you choose a triad that you work with for a year. I spent the better part of lockdown learning from Jane Blundell what a wonderful resource she is. I do my triads in a more traditional color wheel and usually work with 2 - congratulations on your exhibit!
“For me, every body of work is an experiment. I set up an hypothesis and the paintings are the tests. The resulting paintings might answer that question, or maybe just raise a completely new question.” I loved reading this Helen. Congratulations on your exhibition - and what a journey your work is taking.
This is an absolutely fascinating exploration. First that watercolor pigments have their own behaviors (I mostly work in acrylic). I have had my own preferred triad of ultramarine, yellow ochre and crimson. But lately have been interested in green and you can imagine this triad is no good for green! I am going to audition some new triads!
Green is sometimes a challenge isn’t it, we can perceive so many more greens. Phthalo blue is definitely worth a go, it works well in watercolours. But mixing all the triads up is so much fun
Congratulations, Helen on your exhibition! That's quite a journey for your art. I adore these colour experiments.

Jane Blundell is the Triad Queen, no doubt about it! A good way to spend lockdown
Yes! I think I am going to have a great time with this over the weekend!

Thanks so much Michela - and I saw you recommended me! What a compliment, it made me feel great 🌞
You’re welcome Helen. I’m happy to do so - and looking forward to hearing and hopefully seeing some more of your exhibition.
