Thank you Anne Marie, it is so lovely to hear that! I am still in language classes all day here in Dili, and looking forward to having time to draw again when they are finished

I love this so much. The video of your workbook is lush especially bolstered with your notes and rules about drawing practice. Very inspiring. Thank you!

I thought I hadn't seen anything for awhile. Always a pleasure to see your articles. I scroll through what I'm subscribed through until I find yours. Having a break is always justified though. I really appreciate your discussions about ig as well. I feel a lot of the same ways and it's nice to see this being worked out and on through other mediums.

Gosh this is so lovely Helen! I loved hearing you talk about the work, and seeing you experiment - what a treasure your workbook is! Thank you for sharing xo

Thank you so much! I am glad I am here on Substack, otherwise I would never have tried out showing it. I love the way so many of the author/writes are vulnerable and open here (including you) and that helps

This is such a wholly different place to social media isn't it - I know exactly what you mean. I feel much more free, and safe, and calm here too.

Congratulations on your first public exhibition of process! I absolutely love it and it's incredibly inspiring. I'm still at the stage of being afraid to dirty a fresh workbook with a mark. Workbook is actually a good word for changing that mentality. Thank you, Helen!

Some people deliberately dirty the pages on their book with ink or coffee just so they don’t have to deal with that!

And thank you :)

Oooo, great idea! Though it would be tea in my case :)

Hi Helen. I really enjoyed watching the video, especially seeing the evolution of the negative space plant images. The red one towards the end is looking lovely already. I just bought a new workbook (I like how you call it that) yesterday, so this post perfect inspiration timing for me! Thank you for sharing it with the world.

Now I know how to rescue my art from all my abandoned sketchbooks! You are so generous to share your process, Helen. Thank you.

This is lovely to see - and hear. It feels relaxing here, in a way that I can’t imagine on Instagram which is just too shouty and frenzied

I know - I just don’t enjoy looking at art there
